Liquid Facelift
This term has been coined to describe the correction of lax/sagging skin by increasing the volume of its underlying support. We lose volume beneath our skin as fat and bone dissipate with age. As a consequence the skin then collapses or sags, often giving an individual a gaunt appearance. A surgical facelift worsens the appearance since it further flattens the face. Quite the opposite is achieved with a liquid facelift: we fill under the skin with a long duration injectable filler, i.e., Radiesse or Sculptra to restore a youthful contour without surgery.
Titan™
The Titan™ has been proposed as an alternative to Thermage® as a skin tightening device. However, as of 01/01/06 no FDA approval has been given for such use. Its only approval is for skin heating and comparative studies between Thermage® and Titan™'s effects on guinea pig skin show a very significantly greater effect on the dermis by Thermage® (Thermacool) as compared to Titan™.
A study by dermatologist, Christine Lee, M.D.( Walnut Creek, Ca.) reported in Oct., 2005 at the ASDS meeting in Atlanta showed that it took 3 Titan™ treatments to produce the results of one Thermage® treatment ( a split face study). Dr. Lee is apparently a consultant to Cutera, the manufacturer of Titan™.
We offer Titan to those patients who specifically desire it in spite of the above information.
Butt Correction/Augmentation
Stimulated by the J-LO/Beyonce phenomena, our aesthetic culture appears to be moving in the direction of an appreciation of a more accentuated buttock profile curve. This "bolder butt" look can be approached non-surgically by the use of certain appropriate long term fillers in an off-label application. Our office has been using this approach recently with promising results. After initial correction is achieved, touchups are required about ever 2-3 years.
Aging Elbow and Knee Skin Corrections
Ever see someone at the gym with youthful body tone but the old sagging skin elbows and knees give it all away? Now using a combined approach utilizing radio frequency to tighten and certain appropriate fillers in an off-label application to add volume, the condition can be markedly improved. And quickly! No surgery!
Stretch Mark Treatment
To treat ugly stretch marks left behind by pregnancy and weight gain or loss, we offer The Mercury Arc Plus and Fraxel Laser Treatment.
The Mercury Arc Plus utilizes two technologies: the Mercury Arc Lamp emission for restoring pigmentation and the N-Lite laser for improving texture. We are currently using this combined approach and are experiencing good preliminary results at a fairly moderate, affordable cost to our patients. A recent addition of the Xtrac laser provides an additional technology for the treatment of stretch marks.
Fraxel® Laser Treatment is one of the major advances in non-invasive cosmetic technology in the past 10 years. It became available in 2005 and we have been performing this laser skin rejuvenation treatment at our Beverly Hills, Los Angeles office since early 2006. It is a revolutionary and effective treatment for the following: wrinkles, uneven color and tone, texture irregularities from sun damage and aging, crepiness, and loose skin.
The Fraxel laser is also proving to be the most effective technology yet developed for the treatment of stretch marks. No downtime is involved and gradual improvement is noted in texture and color. Collagen is both increased and remodeled due to the treatment.
Cellulite
Dr. Hamilton treats cellulite with Cellucision (sm) which entails the loosening of the abnormal fibrous skin bands causing the cellulite fat pockets. Microincision is performed with minimal discomfort or bruising.
Dr. Hamilton studied with Dr. Doris Hexsel in Brazil who has done subcision (cellucision) for over 10 years. Cellucision appears to be permanent.
Mesotherapy/LipoDissolve/Body Contour Makeover
Mesotherapy/LipoDissolve is a minimally invasive injection technique developed in France which is more effective for the treatment of localized fat deposits (belly fat; thigh fat) and cellulite. Thus it may be used as an effective substitute for liposuction in its use for local fat reduction.

Age and Brown Spot Removal
Today age spots on the face and hands are successfully and comfortably removed with the advanced Q-switch YAG laser. This laser removes the pigment without affecting the surrounding skin; therefore, scarring is avoided. Products from our special skin care line may also be prescribed for home treatment. We also offer to some patients treatment via Intense Pulsed Light. You may contact us for details.
Fat Removal Without Surgery
We treat fat pockets under the eyes, facial jowls, abdominal love handles and thighs with fat dissolving Mesotherapy/lipodissolve including phosphatidylcholine. These procedures were pioneered in Brazil where Dr. Hamilton was introduced to them.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a safe, effective way to refresh the skin and remove fine lines, age spots, and other imperfections. During the procedure, a formulated chemical solution is applied to the skin, and the damaged outer layer is peeled off to reveal the beautiful, unblemished skin underneath. We offer glycolic peels, SkinMedica’s Illuminize and Vitalize peels, the Vi peel and TCA peels of various strengths. Side effects vary between peels with mild redness, shedding, and a sunburn-like effect resulting in the hours after a superficial peel and scabs and redness resulting from the medium peel. Patients who undergo superficial peel can typically return to work the next day, while medium peel patients may need a week to recuperate.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is an excellent solution to blemished, wrinkled, otherwise aged skin. The procedure involves the mechanical removal of the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin, by air-driven aluminum oxide crystals. Because the epidermis contains no blood vessels, there is generally no bleeding during microdermabrasion.
Sclerotherapy
If you have been hesitant to wear shorts or skirts because you are embarrassed of spider and varicose veins on your legs, consider sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy is a procedure in which saline solution is injected into the veins to be treated so that they close and become invisible. The treatment is usually performed in multiple sessions, spaced one to four weeks apart, and is administered into quadrants, usually an entire leg or thigh. For three days following treatment, you will need to wear compression stockings but have no exercise restrictions. You will notice a difference within a few days of treatment and see optimal results within a few months.
Complexion Care
Our practice offers a unique, scientifically designed line of “cosmeceuticals” that were researched and developed to prevent facial and body aging. Using the appropriate ingredients, these products are recommended for pre and post treatment and as part of your daily preventative skin care routine.
There are only two that you need for facial aging: one for the epidermis (the thin outer layer of skin) and one for the dermis (the thick deeper part of the skin where wrinkles from).
Epidermal Creams
The glow of youth is lost over the years as the outer layer of the epidermis becomes thick and opaque. This layer (stratum corneum) can be corrected by the daily application of a glycolic preparation. While there are many glycolic companies, we use Neo Strata because it was founded and managed by Eugene Van Scott, M.D. and his associate, Dr. Yu. Dr. Van Scott, who was the chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Temple University. Dr. Van Scott and Dr. Yu conducted virtually all of the original glycolic and alphahydroxy acid studies for the 20 years before any “glycolic business” existed. We have chosen Neo Strata because doctors Van Scott and Yu are the world recognized experts in glycolic acid research.
Dermal Creams
Until 1999, Retin-A and Renova® (which have the same active ingredients) were the best wrinkle prevention creams available. This statement is based upon clear-cut medical evidence from skin biopsy studies showing significant increase in collagen production from the use of these creams. Collagen stimulation is the element by which anti-aging creams are assessed. Since 1999, copper peptide creams have been considered undoubtedly the most effective wrinkle prevention creams available, having been shown in several independent medical school studies to stimulate collagen at almost twice the rate as Retin-A and Renova®. Procyte Corporation owns the U.S. patent to the copper peptide molecule and produces the Neova line of anti-aging copper peptide creams. This line is sold only to physicians, and we carry it. Neova is not a department store deception, moisturizer, irritant or sun sensitizer. Neova is a dermal food and medicine.
